One of the many things that makes the Western experience unique (and makes WWU one of the highest rated public universities of its kind in the West) is the University’s focus on undergraduate student research. This week is Scholars Week at Western, where student researchers have an opportunity to showcase their undergraduate research projects to the broader Western community in the Wilson Library. Yesterday’s Seattle Times included an op-ed authored by WWU President, Dr. Sabah Randhawa, and Dr. George Bridges, President of The Evergreen State College, about the importance of investing in services that lead to student success. Click here to read the article.
Earlier this month, students from public and private higher education institutions across the state convened in Olympia to advocate for increased funding for the State Need Grant, a need-based state financial aid program that provides tuition assistance to low-income resident Washington students. Today is Alumni Day in Olympia! This exciting event brings together alumni from Washington’s six public baccalaureate institutions (Western, UW, WSU, Evergreen, Central and Eastern) to educate lawmakers about issues important to the higher education community.
